If you are using Google+ from your computer, chances are you have noticed the new layout design that came out yesterday. Previously there was a huge cover photo over the profile details. Now, the profile details and the cover photo are next to each other. The profile details are on the left side of the page, laid over a blurred part of the cover photo, and the cover photo is on the right side.
This new layout is very straightforward and delivers important information at a quicker rate. Typically, when viewing a website, people look at the top left first. Their eyes then move down the page when they search for the information they are looking for.
Instead of the cover photo being the first thing that people see, the important profile details that convey who, what, where, when, and why information about a company, will be the first thing that people see. Without any effort, viewers will be able to see the company name, company description, phone number, address, hours, etc. Take it from a UX design student; people don’t want to and don’t have the time to search for information. They want the info slapped right in front of them.
